Visit This Island Resort For Your Next Kerala Vacation

They say that Kerela is God’s own country, and we totally agree! Scenic hill stations, enchanting forests, and breathtaking backwaters—what else could one want? Speaking of backwaters and beaches, if you’re thinking about heading to South Kerela, we totally recommend Estuary Sarovar Portico resort located in Poovar Islands.

In the convergence of Western and Eastern Ghats lies the tiny hamlet of Poovar. Sun-kissed beaches, open vast sea, serene backwaters, and to top it off – the dreamy river Neyyer! King Marthanda Varma, enthralled by this estuary accurately renamed it Poovar – meaning ‘a string of flowers’. Since then, Poovar has been left relatively unexplored.

Estuary Sarovar Portico is located about an hour from Trivandrum airport and is like a world within the world. Think beautiful rooms and suites like Garden view, garden Cottages, Estuary View, Leisure Villas, Pool Villas to Deluxe Pool Villas, a traditional ayurvedic spa to rejuvenate oneself, bar, a stunning restaurant overlooking the backwater and beach, and three beautiful swimming pools. The best bit? The hotel can be accessed both by road and boat.

Ripples restaurant is the backwater and beachfront restaurant that provides specialty cuisine and buffets. With a magnificent view from a deck dining arrangement and a rustic ambiance, Ripples reflects the soul of Estuary Sarovar Portico Resort. We highly suggest ordering the local dishes at the restaurant along with some sweet coconut waters.

Leisure activities:
Start your day by heading to the Paridisi and Ayurveda centre and opting for a traditional spa. Next, indulge in the breakfast buffet at Ripples and then take a boat ride to the backwater. For lunch, we suggest you order a traditional South Indian thali that comes on a banana leaf and take a nap post it. In the evening, cycle around the property and make use of the recreational activities the resort has to offer. For dinner, you can request the resort to organise a special candle light dinner for you overlooking the backwater and beach.

Estuary Sarovar Portico excels in organising trips to local attractions. You can plan a day to Kanyakumari which is about 2 hours from the resort to have a look at the swami vivekanand rock, the Kanyakumari Temple and the Kanyakumari beach. On your next day, you can head to the very famous Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Trivendrum and also see the local museum. The Kovalam beach is also located at about 20 kms from the resort and makes a great outing.
